It is the mission of the Allegany County Citizen Corps to tap underutilized volunteers to fill critical gaps in Allegany County’s Emergency Response Network, including but not limited to public education and awareness. This will be accomplished through the Community Emergency Response Teams, Community Emergency Preparedness Teams, and the Medical Reserve Corps. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program trains people in neighborhoods, the workplace, and schools in basic disaster response skills, such as fire suppression, urban search and rescue, and medical operations, and helps them take a more active role in emergency preparedness and is administered by FEMA For more information on Allegany County Citizen Corps of the CERT
